Learning to be at school.
The first years are about confidence. A child arrives at two barely able to tell a stranger their name. They leave PP2 reading simple words, counting, holding a pencil the right way and speaking up in a room full of other children. We keep the rooms bright, the days the same shape, and the grown-ups kind.

Short, warm days of play, songs and routine. Children learn to share, take turns, wash their hands and be away from home for a few hours without worry.
Letters, sounds and numbers through games and stories. Children start to dress themselves, look after their things and work in a bigger group.
Reading and writing begin properly, with counting to a hundred and simple sums. By the end of the year a child is ready for Grade 1 and already knows the primary teachers.

Their own space
Kindergarten has its own rooms and its own fenced playground, away from the older children.
Small groups
Every class has a teacher and an assistant, so no child waits long for help.
Play with a purpose
Skating, music, drawing and outdoor play are on the timetable, not squeezed in.
A gentle start
New children can begin with half days until they are settled.
Ready to meet the Kindergarten?
Playgroup takes children from age two. Bring your child along for a visit.
